In the last few years, history has been made. Whether we like it or not, we’ll be reflecting on this time in our lives for many years to come. What did the pandemic teach us? Were we able to float down the River of Integration? Were we flexible, adaptive, and stable? Or did we wash up on the Bank of Rigidity or the Bank of Chaos? Did we find ourselves out of control or trying to control everything? I’m sure if we honestly reflect, we’ll find we had moments of each. We’ve been dealing with a pandemic for crying out loud! But, if the majority of the time we were enjoying a lazy river mindset about it all, we should pat ourselves on the back. Our minds are well integrated.

This Weekend

Since we want to keep making history, the NFL has decided to air the Super Bowl at the latest date of all time. The 56th Super Bowl is scheduled for February 13th, 2022. You got that right – the day before Valentine’s Day. The reason behind this unprecedented latency is the NFL adopted a new 17-game schedule this season. If I understand this correctly and the NFL keeps the 17-game schedule, the Super Bowl will be this late into the year for years to come.  But it’ll be several years before it lands on February 13th again. I wonder if the league understood the ramifications of their actions. Will couples argue over which even is more important? Or will they innovate and celebrate both?

Perhaps if they are anything like me, it won’t matter much. While I must admit to being eager for the 90s rap halftime show, I can’t admit to being overly thrilled to watch this year’s Super Bowl game. The excitement of football has faded since I got rid of my cable subscription eleven years ago. And when it comes to Valentine’s Day, I’m not one to celebrate the holiday. When you are attuned with the love in your life on a daily basis, why bother with one day to profess it?

Of course, I’ll give my children some love themed trinkets this year. And I’m also excited to see their joy when they show me what they’ve received from their friends.

But when it comes to making history, I’ll tune in to attuning on a regular basis and keep floating down the lazy river.
